(GIS) Representatives of the Dutch side Island Council and French side Territorial Council met on March 23 to discuss constitutional renewal that both sides of the island have gone through or are going through. The meeting took place in Marigot, St. Martin, and was held on the 361st anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Concordia.

Commissioner of Constitutional Affairs Sarah Wescot-Williams gave an outline of Dutch St. Maarten's quest for country status within the Dutch Kingdom while French Senator Louis-Constant Fleming gave an update on changes experienced by the Collectivite of St. Martin within the past two years when the latter was granted its status by France.

The officials from both sides of the island also discussed areas of common interest, such as the development of an integrated water drainage system and reinforced cooperation on justice and police.
