(GIS) Commissioner of Constitutional Affairs Sarah Wescot-Williams is inviting the general public to come out on Thursday, April 2 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the University of St. Martin (USM) to attend on a constitutional forum on the distribution of human resources for the new government structure for country St. Maarten.
Commissioner Wescot says that this forum offers the public an opportunity to become more actively involved in the constitutional process. The event is being hosted by the Bureau of Constitutional Affairs (BCA) in collaboration with USM and is part of the Island Government's on-going information campaign "En Route to Country St. Maarten." Information will be provided about the set-up of the Council of Ministers and Parliament for country St. Maarten, the allocation of personnel and what departments will fall under the seven ministries. The presentations for the evening will be given by: Commissioner Sarah Wescot-Williams, Xavier Blackman, Luud Hakkens and Dennis Richardson. This is the second forum being organized by the USM under a memorandum of understanding that was signed between the Island Government and USM in 2008 giving the latter the responsibility to organize these types of events. The first forum was held in July 2008 and focussed on the Draft Constitution of Country St. Maarten.
